Netflix has just released the classic anime series Erased, but what are the chances that the show can be kickstarted again for season 2?
There isn't a movie as far as my knowledge goes. There's a manga and anime, as well as a spin-off novel and side manga. It would be neat though. Manga, and Netflix Drama. Saved By Satoru. The Town Without Me), also known as ERASED, is a Japanese fantasy thriller manga series written and illustrated by Kei Sanbe and serialized on Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine since 2012. The manga has spawned an anime adaption which was planned for twelve episodes and a live-action adaption that was released on March 19, 2016.
The Humpback might have been called the Model 1912, except that the Model 1912 designation had already been taken by one of Mauser's experimental pistols. The earliest known surviving example of a 7.65 mm Mauser Humpback pistol, serial number 22, has the following slide inscription on the left side of the slide in all capital serif characters. Mauser 7.65 pistol serial numbers. Some time around serial number 162,500 the right side of the slide is stamped 'Mauser 7.65'. Around serial number 277,000 the milled panel on the frame was discontinued. 1910/14 model, this variation was manufactured between 1921 to 1928 with a serial number range between 221800 to 345000. The pistol originally chambered the 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) cartridge, but the majority of Mauser HScs manufactured in the 1970s were chambered in 9mm Kurz (.380 ACP). The full serial number of each pistol is located on the front of the grip frame, just above the magazine.
Erased Manga Spin Off
Erased is a classic anime series and if you haven't already watched it, you can now binge-watch the entire first season on Netflix.
However, it's not been over 4 years since the first season of Erased concluded.
Now, with the release on Netflix, many fans are hopeful that this could kickstart production of the classic anime once again.

- At the time of writing, a second season of the Erased anime has not been ordered.
Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that we will ever see a return of the Erased anime series and the reason for this is simple, source material.
The vast majority of series are direct adaptations of original manga and in the case of Erased, the anime covered everything in the source material – which itself also stopped serialisation in 2016.
So, unless the original author of the manga Kei Sanbe starts producing more chapters, which is also highly unlikely, we will probably never get a second season. However, there is always the chance that a renewed interest in the series thanks to this Netflix release could kickstart production once again.

- If the Erased anime is renewed for a second season, it likely wouldn't release for at least another year.
As far as we are aware, Sanbe has not been continuing the storyline in private, so serialization of the manga would have to be restarted before the anime could be produced. This would likely put a potential premiere for season 2 in late-2021 or even 2022.
However, if the second season was an original storyline that didn't need the manga, production could be streamlined – especially if Netflix themselves backed the project.

OVA, movie or spin-off…
- Whilst there is always a possibility that the Erased anime series could be restarted thanks to the Netflix release; we think that an original spin-off show is more likely.
Interestingly, Netflix themselves have already produced a live-action adaptation of the original manga and there is indeed a spin-off novel called ‘Boku Dake ga Inai Machi: Another Record'.
Could this be an easier route to take rather than waiting for the original series to resume?

The November issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine announced on Tuesday that Kei Sanbe will end his Boku dake ga Inai Machi Re spinoff manga in the magazine's next issue on November 4. The December issue will feature the manga on the cover.

The original manga's story follows Satoru Fujinuma, a 29-year old struggling manga artist who possesses a strange power: a largely uncontrolled ability to turn back time before a life-threatening accident occurs around him. When his mother notices a serial kidnapper in action, and is later murdered for it, Satoru unwillingly turns back time to arrive 18 years in the past in his elementary school days, some time before an incident that has haunted him his whole life: the disappearance and murder of his classmate Kayo Hinazuki.
Sanbe launched the spinoff on June 4.
Sanbe began the original manga in 2012, and ended it on March 4. Kadokawa published the manga's eighth and final compiled book volume on May 2. The manga was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize 'Reader Award' in 2014 and last year's Manga Taisho Awards. Yen Press will release the manga's first volume in North America in spring 2017.
